09.03.2019 : South Coast Railway Zone - Visakhapatnam - Ministry of Railways has appointed Mr. S.S. Srinivas as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), South Coast Railway to facilitate the process of formation of the new Zone. Officer on Special Duty / South Coast Railway will undertake planning and prepatory work for formation of the new zone at Visakhapatnam, such as survey of existing infrastructural facilities, requirement of land acquisition, preparation of DPR for additional requirements and the blue print for smooth transition of staff into the New Zone. 28.02.2019 : Railway Zone For Visakhapatnam - Railway Minister, Mr. Piyush Goyal announced the decision of creation of new Railway Zone, South Coast Railway, Headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on 27.02.2019. The new zone shall be named South Coast Railway, short form SCoR. It will comprise of of the existing Guntakal, Guntur, and Vijaywada Divisions. The present Walter Division will now be divided into two parts, one part will be incorporated in the new zone SCoR, and will be merged with the neighboring Vijayawada Division and the remaining portion of the present Walter division shall be converted into a New Division with headquarters at Rayagada under East Coast Railway in Odisha.

15.02.2019 : Adani Data Center & Technology Park - Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for Adani Data Centre Park, which is coming up in an area of 175 acres at Kapuluppada IT Park on 14.02.2019. The Rs.70,000 Cr project will position AP as a data center hub for the country and Southeast Asia. It will also be integrated with a cable landing station providing global connectivity.
Anandapuram-Pendurthy-Anakapally, 51 km, 6 lane NH-16 road construction works are going rapidly between Anandapuram and Pendurthy section, constructing by Dilip Buildcon Limited, project cost is Rs. 2,561 crore and will be completed by Dec 2020.

24.11.2018 : Visakhapatnam Metro Rail (VMR) - Govt.of Andhra Pradesh has approved the proposal for Development of Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project under unique PPP model vide G.O. MS No. 378 issued on 23.11.2018, with three corridors consisting of 42.55 KMs, project cost of Rs.8300.00 cr.
To permit AMRC to borrow an amount of cost of Civil Infrastructure not
exceeding Rs.4200.00 crores from the External Commercial Borrowings
(ECB) or any other Foreign Funding Agencies/Financial Institutions with
lower interest rates comparable to Indian Banks interest rates with one
time Sovereign Guarantee by the State Government.
To allot about 250 acres of Government land in parcels in Visakhapatnam
within the vicinity of metro alignment at suitable locations on free of cost
to AMRCL for property development to be taken up in a separate bidding
process to capture maximum revenue to GoAP/AMRCL to be utilised for
meeting the debt service/loan repayment obtained from the funding
05.11.2018 : Vizag to host 3 major tourism fests from Dec, 2018 to March, 2019.
The annual Visakha Utsav would be organised from December 28 to 30 at RK Beach and a sum of Rs. 3.5 crore have been earmarked for it. A tourism calendar has also been prepared and the Araku Balloon Festival will be part of the calendar.
Last year, the balloon festival was held for the first time and this year the festival will be held from January 18 to 20, and people from nine countries would be participating in it. The government has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 4 crore for the event.
Continuing the Yacht Festival that began last year, it would be held from March 1 to 3 for which Rs. 4 crore has been earmarked.

Adani Enterprises Limited 2. Tata's TRIL Urban Transport. 3. Shapoorji Pallonji and Co Pvt Limited. 4. Essel Infra Projects. 5. IL&FS Rail Ltd.
The Managing Director, AMRC has submitted the draft RFP and Concession agreement to be released to the shortlisted bidders for approval of the Government and requested to permit him to release the same at the earliest.
Government after careful examination of the entire issue have decided to approve the RFP and Concession Agreement for Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project and permit the Managing Director, Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation to release RFP and Concession Agreement to the short listed bidders.
06.09.2018: Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) is now Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) - Govt.of Andhra Pradesh issued G.O. Ms.Nos. 301,302&303 on 05.09.2018 to effect this change.
